The Toronto Maple Leafs released their broadcasting schedule on Wednesday, September 18th. There will be 36 games featured nationally on Sportsnet, 14 locally on Sportsnet Ontario, 26 on TSN, and for the first time, the Leafs will feature games on Amazon Prime, with the streaming service showing six games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have their first Amazon Prime featured game on October 21st against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Other dates for games on Prime Video are October 28th against the Winnipeg Jets, December 2nd against the Chicago Blackhawks, January 20th against the Lightning, March 3rd against the San Jose Sharks, and March 17th against the Calgary Flames. The March 17th game will be the annual game in which the Leafs wear their Toronto St. Pats jerseys.

This isn't the first time the Leafs have been on Amazon Prime.

The Leafs were featured in a Prime Video exclusive called All or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs.

Toronto Maple Leafs and Amazon Prime Video

The show documented the Leafs throughout their 2021-22 season. Fans got to see what happens behind the scenes. Interactions between former head coach Sheldon Keefe and the players. Meetings between Keefe and former Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas. Not to mention the chance to relive the highlights from the Leafs games that season.

The Leafs have many key dates in the schedule that fans should highlight on their calendars, but these games on Amazon Prime will hopefully do well for all parties involved. Amazon and the Leafs seem to have a good partnership, so this could become a normal thing as more and more people switch from cable to streaming services.

Many of the Leafs top stars, such as Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Mitch Marner, are in the prime of their careers. So, it seems only fitting to showcase them on Amazon Prime Video. As a fan, I'm hoping that the games on Prime work out better than the ones featured on YouTube or Apple TV.

I'm sure there will be those who are not subscribed to Amazon Prime that will not like the fact that they are going to miss six games this season. However, there are still many fans who do have an Amazon Prime subscription, and if all goes well, maybe more fans will purchase the streaming service in the future. For now, it's up to us who do have Amazon Prime, to enjoy the exclusive games to the fullest.
