The Toronto Maple Leafs training camp gets underway today, and that means that yesterday we were subject to a whole host of player health updates, which I will now do my best to relate to you here.

The Toronto Maple Leafs luckily don't have any major injuries to their best players, which is good because when we last saw them Mitch Marner was on one leg, Auston Matthews was suffering from an undisclosed sickness and William Nylander was dealing with migraines.

The Leafs do have a bunch of players with some form of injury or another, but that will likely just make training camp more interesting.

Of course, health is a major factor in the NHL standings and while we would like to pretend that teams who try the hardest win the most, the fact is that the biggest factor in who wins the Stanley Cup tends to be which of the best teams is healthiest in the spring.

As we saw last year, a healthy Leafs roster would have easily dispatched the Boston Bruins. Anyways, on with the update!

Toronto Maple Leafs Injury News and Update

The worst news is probably about Fraser Minten, one of the Toronto Maple Leafs top prospects. Minten has a high ankle sprain, so that means he'll be out for a while.

Last year Marner had one of those and came back a month early to disastrous results. Minten was injured in the last game of the Leafs Rookie Tournament, and so we likely won't see him until late October.

He wasn't expected to make the team, but he made it last year and would have made a great David Kampf replacement, so who knows what might have happened?

Next up is Connor Dewar, who the Leafs re-signed this summer. He had shoulder surgery this summer and there is not currently a timeline for his return. He's a fourth liner, and a depth option at best. He'll likely be on the team when he's healthy but this is a great chance for a rookie to steal a job.

Recent Leafs draft pick Ben Danford was dealt a concussion by some loser who won't even make an NHL training camp, which pretty much always happens. This is unfortunate. He wasn't a real candidate to make the team, but it would have been fun to see him try.
