The Toronto Maple Leafs have been putting together a fine NHL season so far in 2024-25. With a 19-10-2 record, they currently sit in first place in the Atlantic Division and just four points behind the conference-leading Washington Capitals.
Many of the expected key players on the Toronto Maple Leafs have been doing their part in helping contribute to the team’s success.
But in addition to the usual suspects, the Leafs will eventually need the help of some of their valuable prospects to prolong their success and keep it sustainable.
With that in mind, which of the Maple Leafs current prospects have recently seen significant growth in their game and which ones have taken a step back? We will take a look at 3 Leafs prospects whose stock is currently on the rise and 2 others that have unfortunately fallen.
3 Maple Leafs Prospects Whose Stock Is on the Rise, 2 That Have Fallen
On the rise: Fraser Minten
Heading into the 2024-25 season, the Maple Leafs had high hopes for Fraser Minten. Having made the team out of training camp the previous year, along with another year of growth and development in the OHL that subsequently followed, Minten was expected to challenge for a full-time roster spot this time around.
However, an early high-ankle sprain injury prior to training camp at the Prospect’s Showdown took away any chances of him making the Leafs regular season lineup by Opening Night. In the end, he started the season with the Toronto Marlies instead upon recovery from his injury. Nevertheless, Minten finally got his chance when the Leafs regulars were ravaged by injuries of their own by mid-November.
Since joining the club, Minten has performed admirably, playing up and down the lineup as needed. In 11 games, he has posted 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points on 13 shots while averaging close to 13 minutes a night. More importantly, even though he's going to be sent down eventually, he's pretty clearly showed that eventually he will be a very good NHL player.
