The Toronto Maple Leafs are entering the 2026-27 season as one of the NHL's most interesting teams to watch. This is because they not only added multiple new players to their roster through free agency and trades but also landed Gavin McKenna with this year's first-overall pick.
The Maple Leafs also have some players to keep an eye on who have the potential to have career years. Due to this, let's look at three players who could end up hitting new career highs during the 2026-27 season.
Matthew Knies
Matthew Knies was the subject of trade speculation leading up to 2026 NHL Trade Deadline and during this offseason. Yet, now that it appears more likely that he will be starting the season in Toronto, he very well could have a big year for the Maple Leafs.
Knies finished this past season with a career-high 66 points in 79 games. Overall, the 6-foot-3 forward had a strong season offensively, but it would not be surprising if he hit at least the 75-point mark for the first time. Keep in mind, he is just 23 years old and only entering his fourth full NHL season, so he may not have hit his ceiling offensively yet.
Easton Cowan
Easton Cowan was a rare bright spot for the Maple Leafs during their nightmare 2025-26 season. The 21-year-old forward broke out for Toronto, as he posted 11 goals, 18 assists, and 29 points in 66 games as a rookie.
Overall, Cowan proved last season that he is ready to be a full-time NHL player. Yet, now that he has a season of NHL experience under his belt, he should smash his rookie offensive totals this season for the Maple Leafs. The possibility of him reaching at least 20 goals and 45 points should not be ruled out.
Jack Roslovic
Jack Roslovic is one of many new Maple Leafs players heading into the 2026-27 season. The Maple Leafs signed the 10-year NHL veteran to a two-year, $8 million contract after he posted 21 goals and 36 points in 69 games last season for the Edmonton Oilers.
While Roslovic is entering his age-30 season in 2026-27, the possibility of him hitting a new career high in points is certainly there. The Columbus, Ohio native's current career high is 45 points, but he very well could hit at least the 50-point mark if he ends up having a spot in Toronto's top six. Roslovic's past playing experience with Auston Matthews while with the U.S. National Team Development Program makes it seem likely that he will get the chance to play with No. 34.
