The Toronto Maple Leafs are enjoying their current three-game winning streak after a solid 5-1 win over the Seattle Kraken on Sunday to get the new week started off right. With the month of February coming to a close, the Maple Leafs are once again making their case to continue being a playoff contender.

Hopefully, with the NHL Trade Deadline quickly approaching, the Maple Leafs consider any and all trades to get them not only back into the postseason but actually advancing this time around. The wounds are still fresh from last year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs and well, the last six straight seasons as a matter of fact.

Here’s to the Maple Leafs finally conquering their postseason curse of always being a “one and done” hockey team as enough is enough already. Losing in every opening round of the playoffs for the last six years will eventually come to a stop and hopefully, it finally ends in 2023 as this team does have the talent to at least make it farther than that.

The NHL Trade Deadline is this Friday, March 3, 2023, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time and one never knows what Maple Leafs’ general manager Kyle Dubas could pull off. He’s done two trades with hopes that they can be what gets this hockey team over the hump once they make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Here’s to hoping he has another big trade or two in the works to really hammer it home before the deadline is here.

In the grand scheme of things, defense and well, toughness, wins championships. There’s no doubt that the Maple Leafs did a solid job by adding new forwards and especially defenseman Jake McCabe to lead the charge to be difference-makers this season. To be a gritty team means you win those key battles when it matters most in close games. It should pay dividends for the Maple Leafs as they hopefully prepare for another playoff run with a continued defensive identity.

Maple Leafs May Have Found a Hidden Gem in Grebyonkin [Alex Hobson, The Hockey Writers]

This was an excellent article about the potential that forward Nikita Grebyonkin could have on the Maple Leafs if everything falls into place. He’s still very young at 19 years old but in a few years, could very well be the next big thing on a team that needs more homegrown stars for continued success in the future. Hopefully, he’ll get a stint with the Toronto Marlies in 2024 or 2025 at the latest so we can all see how he transitions from the KHL.
