I am honestly tired of all the hate the Toronto Maple Leafs get.

I get it. People don’t like us and they think it’s funny that the Toronto Maple Leafs playoff success in the last 15 years has been…. non-existent. I don’t care about that. Why? Because I’ve watched this team for my entire life and they’ve never been closer to a Stanley Cup than they are right now.

The Leafs have so much going for them. The offseason acquisitions have paid off. Auston Matthews is going to be the best goal scorer in the game for the next decade. John Tavares is finally looking like John Tavares again. The goaltending is actually passable except for the recent losing streak.

Everything is coming together.

The Best Toronto Maple Leafs Team I’ve Seen

I am 20 years old. I’ve watched this team be terrible for years, get trounced in many a playoff game sevens (all first round exits) and now I’m watching this team and have watched them grow. It seems like forever ago when our plucky little Leafs were going up against the big bad Caps and pushed them to six games just one year after finishing at the bottom of the league.

It feels different this year. The tires have “fallen off” at a couple of points this year, but it just feels like this team knows what it’s doing. Sheldon Keefe is an excellent coach and was absolutely the man for the job.

If the Toronto Maple Leafs can get Jumbo Joe his elusive first ring I have some trolling to do at the expense of Bruins fans everywhere. Joe has done everything right in his short time with the Leafs, and I wish they had gotten him a few years ago. Should the Leafs make it to the Cup Finals, Joe’s presence might just make them the at large favorite. Especially if they run into a Boston.

The last thing I want to talk about is the playoff boogeyman. Like I said, this year feels different. Boston isn’t waiting for us in the first round. It will most likely be Montreal. I have less than zero concern about the Habs in a seven game series. The playoff series drought will end this season. After that, the cup drought will end. The Toronto Maple Leafs will finish off this pandemic by winning their 14 Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Prepare the new logo, Shanny. That Leaf is going to need another vein.
