The Toronto Maple Leafs may be well known for their scoring prowess, but they also have some of the best locks in the league.

Leadership and skill are important qualities for a hockey player, but you can’t under estimate the importance of good hair, and clearly the Toronto Maple Leafs have not.

Hair is an important part of hockey culture.

There’s the flow, the bleached hair during major junior hockey, and the no-shave playoff superstition. The origins of the term flow are believed to originate from the 1970s, before helmets were mandated, and players’ hair “flowed” behind them as they skated.

On to the Countdown

Best Hair on the Toronto Maple Leafs

1.William Nylander

Nylander’s Swedish heritage has definitely given him a boost in the luscious hair department. He has had some misses (remember the cornrows) but his typical “flow” ranks number one on the team.

2. Frederik Andersen

The Danish are not just known for their delicate pastries, they are also the homeland of Frederik Andersen. Possibly one of the greatest natural redheads to ever live.

3. Mitch Marner

Marner may often come in third when people think of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s Three-Headed Monster, but he also comes in third on this list, but not for lack of effort.

Despite his inability to grow facial hair come playoff time, the hair on the top of his head still makes him stand out.

Honourable Mentions

Matt Martin

Okay, I may be bending the rules here, but before Martin joined the Leafs he had an amazing flow with the Islanders.

Auston Matthews

During his tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Lou Lamoriello instituted a facial hair policy that was quickly scrapped upon his termination.

GM Kyle Dubas said this was a positive move but I honestly can’t wait for Matthews to get rid of that ‘stach.

Kasperi Kapanen

Although I was very tempted to add Marincin for our very own Nick Barden who bought a Marincin jersey a month ago, his flow isn’t nearly good enough to list in the top three.

The honour goes to the one they call “Kappy” for his unruly hair. The reason he is low on this list is because his girlfriend recently cut his hair in a viral video into a buzzcut.

There you have it – the best hair in the NHL belongs to the Toronto Maple Leafs William Nylander.  May you too also be blessed with great hair.
