1. Ilya Mikheyev – 25 years old – RW
Now to finish off the list, at my number one spot I have the man, the myth, the soup lover Ilya Mikheyev.
What a season this guy was having with the Toronto Maple Leafs before it was cut short in December due to a laceration on his wrist.
Ilya Mikheyev signed a one year contract worth $925K out of the KHL for the 2019-20 season and he defiantly lived up to that contract.
He is set to become a RFA in the 2020 off-season just like Frederik Gauthier, and man I really hope Mikheyev and Dubas can agree to an extension and I really think they will.
Possibly a contract similar to Engvall maybe a bit higher like $1.75M AVV, I just don’t know what the term will be.
His contribution to the team right from the get go was very important and it was great to see, he can play up and down the lineup as he played with a bunch of different people.
Mikheyev’s 2019-20 stats – 39 GP – 8 G – 15 A – 23 PTS
With 23 points in 39 games this past season, Ilya put himself on pace to finish the season with 17 G – 31 A – 48 PTS.
What a season that would’ve been for Ilya as that’s his first season in the league and played ups and down the lineup.
Although like I said his season came to an end due to an injury, and I really think he likes being in Toronto and playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He also signed a contract with Campbells soup Canada so that’s a good sign.
