Ottawa Senators
Notable Adds: Nate Thompson, Johnny Oduya, Max Reinhart.
Notable Losses: Marc Methot, Chris Neil, 1,500 seats from their half empty arena.
Ugh. Don’t even get me started on these guys. The Senators, by far, had the easiest possible trip to the Eastern Conference Finals last season. I’m sorry, but beating the Bruins and Rangers does not exactly equate a rousing success. Even Colorado could push either team to 6 games.
Then we have Pierre Dorion, hockey’s second worst Pierre, who should probably just not speak from now on. Right before the expansion draft, Dorion proudly declared that he respected Marc Methot so much, he simply could not bear to trade him. Instead of, you know, being a competent general manager, he opted to sit back as Methot was poached for free in the expansion draft.
That might be the stupidest thing I have ever heard a GM say, and I lived through the Dave Nonis Era. You love a player so much that you’ll allow him to be taken for free? What?
It’s a shame that Dorion doesn’t hold that same respect for Clarke MacArthur. Even Satan himself shook his head when Dorion invited human colostomy bag Patrick Sieloff back to training camp this year.
You may remember Sieloff from his starring role as “predatory goon who concussed his teammate MacArthur at a fan event”. How do you think MacArthur feels knowing his own GM warmly welcomed the return of the man who quite likely ended his career? Especially after the team allowed him to play last year despite clearly still being hurt. Screw that. No wonder the Sens can’t even fill their own arena.
