The Red Wings are spiraling out of control it seems. Injuries are piling up and a schedule filled with tough Western Conference opponents don’t make for a good spot in the standings. The Wings have fallen out of a playoff spot and if they don’t get healthy soon, it may stay that way, and a 23-season streak would come to an end!
Offensively the Wings are anemic. Back-to-back scoreless games against the Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers showed as much, and being able to defeat the Kings thanks to an absurdly illegal goal doesn’t make for much bragging rights among Wings fans right now, but they did win that game in a shootout so it’s progress I guess, right?
The Wings turned in a pitiful effort against the St. Louis Blues, which has Wings fans particularly worried about tonight’s game against the Blackhawks. (An actual rivalry on Wednesday Night Rivalry? The devil you say!) Things don’t get any easier for the Wings Friday when they face the Montreal Canadiens for the first time this season. It’ll be an important divisional matchup, but even more so, important for the Wings to make up points against Metropolitan Division teams as well. It’s all uphill from here.
