Miroslav Holinka, Czechia
Holinka is all but a guarantee to represent Czechia at the World Juniors, especially with very few returnees up front for them and with his history with the National Team. He was the 14th overall pick by the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL) at the CHL Import draft earlier this year and has started his North American debut quite well, scoring 10 goals and 18 points in as many games.
Holinka has not only just started playing well but last year scored at the highest rate of any first-year draft eligible player in the Czechia U-20 league. He has the stats and pedigree and should be a no-brainer choice to represent Czechia at the 2025 WJC tournament.
Easton Cowan, Canada
Just like Holinka, Cowan is likely a lock to make Team Canada given he is one of the Ontario Hockey League's (OHL) premier forwards. He also has the track record of having represented Canada at the World Juniors last year, which despite underwhelming production, could be an incredibly valuable piece to this year's team.
Cowan is currently on a 53-game point streak dating back to last season, coming very close to setting an OHL record. So far this season, Cowan has amassed 24 points in 17 games. His high level of play, along with his high energy style could make him a key member of the Canadian squad this year.
Noah Chadwick, Canada
Chadwick was drafted by the blue and white in the sixth round of the 2023 NHL Draft but has seen his stock take leaps forward. Although not as much of a lock as the previous two, he seems to have a decent chance at making the Canadian squad with only one defender from last year eligible to return. He was also named to Canada's roster for the World Junior Summer Showcase which means he is at least in consideration.
So far this year, he has 16 points in 18 games, good for 15th in the WHL amongst blueliners. This and his leadership qualities boost his stock, wearing a "C" on his chest for his club team, the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL.
