Ty Voit, F
Keeping in mind the Cyclones situation, Voit is having a so-so start to the year. Coming off of a horribly unlucky season last year that saw him play a total of six professional games between the ECHL/AHL before suffering a season-ending injury. Voit so far in 21 games has scored four goals and five assists for six points, which is two less than he had last year in only five games in the ECHL.
On the bright side, he is trending up with five points in his last eight games. To say that his production so far has been disappointing, would be an understatement. Hopefully, if he receives an opportunity to reach the AHL, he is able to take a step in terms of his production.
Roni Hirvonen, F
Hirvonen is a player that has gone through a lot in such a short period of time, dating back to last year. Between battling injuries and personal matters, it is hard to knock a guy, especially when he has shown so much perseverance.
Although his point totals are not awe-inspiring, he has shown slight improvements thus far having scored nine points in 23 games, which is good for eighth in team scoring. This also puts him well on pace to smash his 13-point rookie year in 37 games. He will hopefully show some greater offensive output in the second-half and will hopefully show some progress in getting a larger role from his current middle-six position.
Ryan Tverberg, F
Tverberg was a player I had in my 'risers' category in my pre-season prospect risers and fallers piece and for good reason. Last year, in his rookie professional year, he was on fire producing 32 points in only 46 games and showing off the energy that would make him a potential future fan favorite for the Leafs. This year, he has taken quite a large step back in terms of his offensive production, going from a 0.7 points-per-game pace to 0.37, which puts him on track to score only 26 points in 69 games. Now, to be far to Tverberg, he has spent quite a few games on the fourth line. He is currently out with an injury but hopefully he can recover quickly and find his footing again.
The rest of the Maple Leafs prospects currently in their minor league system have been having relatively underwhelming years. There are currently only six players on the roster who have eclipsed the 10 point mark, despite the team being over 20 games into the season. Unsurprisingly, the team is sitting at a mediocre 13-4-5 record, smack dab in the middle of their division and sits 21st in the league in goals for, while sitting first in the league in goals against.
The season so far truly has been a tale of the netminders, but with Grebenkin and Minten seemingly back down for a while, scoring should pick up.
