Victor Johansson - 4th Round, 120th Overall
Treliving did not hold onto the 58th overall selection he acquired along with the pick for Danford, instead he traded that for a 2025 second round pick, along with the 225th selection of the 2024 draft. So the next pick was 6'1", left shooting defenseman Victor Johansson out of Sweden who had played the previous year in the Swedish Junior League.
Johansson has seen his ice-time increase which has led to a surge in his scoring that has gone from eight points in his draft season to 29-points this year through 39 games. Johansson has also got a taste of professional hockey as he has skated in four games with Leksands IF of the Sweden's top professional league.
Johansson has yet to sign his entry level contract with the Maple Leafs.
Miroslav Holinka - 5th Round, 151st Overall
Arguably the most interesting selection of the draft was Czechia native Miroslav Holinka who the team selected in the fifth round. In his draft year, the 6'2" forward played 29 games in both the junior and professional Czech leagues. He had 41-points in 29 games in the under-20 league, while also getting into 16 games Trinec Ocelari who have now won five of the last six championships in the Czech league.
Instead of returning to Trinec for 2024-25, Holinka came over to North America to join the Edmonton Oilers Kings in the Western Hockey League where he has been a point per game player. Over Christmas, Holinka represented his country at the World Junior Championships for the second time winning a bronze medal in consecutive seasons.
Holinka has yet to sign his entry level contract with the Maple Leafs.
