These Toronto Maple Leafs Players will Benefit the Most From the Break

Matthew Knies

With this team lacking depth in the forward core, Matthew Knies has been a huge part of this team.

In a contract year (he is an RFA after this season) Knies has taken a noticeable step. Through 51 games Knies has posted 21 goals and 15 assists for 36 points.

Before the season, I wrote about how the Leafs should sign his extension before opening night. Now it is looking like Treliving might've made a mistake not making that move. We are now looking at a summer where this front office needs to figure out Marner, Tavares and Knies.

The reason Knies will benefit from this break is very similar to the goaltenders. His play has been great, but injuries have begun to pile up on him.

He hasn't missed many games, but ever since he got crushed by Zach Whitecloud, he has picked up a few minor injuries. He has played through them but getting Knies back at 100 percent would be great for this team.

Knies will be a big part of this team's success if they have any at all and getting this time for him to rest is huge.
