The Toronto Maple Leafs Are Searching for a Centre: Here's 5 Trade Options

The Toronto Maple Leafs are well-known to be on the hunt for acquiring a third-line center. However, they are not looking at the top stars available (J.T. Miller, Mika Zibanejad, Elias Pettersson, and Dylan Cozens) based on the asking price.

Michael McCarron - Nashville Predators

Michael McCarron is not a good option if secondary scoring is what the Leafs are seeking. However, if they want a third-line center who can play a more physical game (66 hits), then McCarron could be the perfect fit for the Leafs.

He also comes cheap with a salary cap hit of $900,000 this season and next.

McCarron is 29 years old and plays center and right wing. He has registered two goals and three assists for five points in 33 games. The former 2013 first-round pick (25th overall) of the Montreal Canadiens is 6'6 and 232 pounds. He can produce secondary scoring with the right linemates. McCarron registered 12 goals last season, along with 142 hits and a 53.2 FO%.

Kevin Stenlund - Utah HC

Kevin Stenlund is a 28-year-old, right-shooting center measuring in at 6'4, 211 pounds.

He is a former 2015 second-round pick (58th overall) of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Stenlund is under contract until the end of next season with a salary cap hit of $2 million.

Stenlund offers the Leafs a center with size and secondary scoring. He has seven goals and four assists for 11 points in 40 games this season. Stenlund helped the Florida Panthers in their Stanley Cup run last season, so he knows Anthony Stolarz, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Steven Lorentz from the Leafs already.
