Finland:
To wrap things up, we have Team Finland. The Finns have some easier picks for their captains, and giving the 'C' to Aleksander Barkov is a pretty clear choice. Not only is Barkov the longtime captain of the Florida Panthers, but he also has experience at the 2014 Olympics and 2016 World Cup, and he became the first Finnish captain in NHL history to lead his team to the Stanley Cup.
This choice was fairly easy.
For the alternates, Mikko Rantanen seems like a lock, as he's quickly became one of, if not the most offensively talented Finnish players in the entire NHL.
I want to give Miro Heiskanen an 'A' as well, despite his slow start this year, he is another Finn who has turned into one of the top players at his position in the entire league.
For the final letter, the Finns have a few returners from the 2016 team who are good choices, but my pick is Sebastian Aho. Another player who has turned into a superstar, Aho is going to lead this Finland team in most offensive situations.
For honorable mentions, I'm picking Esa Lindell, Erik Haula, and Mikael Granlund, all of whom are deserving. With that being said, my final picks for Finland's captains are Aleksander Barkov (C), Mikko Rantanen (A), Miro Heiskanen (A), and Sebastian Aho (A).
As we inch closer and closer to the tournament, more and more speculation will surround each team and who their captains will be. Let's see how close I am once they get announced.
