Do the Toronto Maple Leafs Even Have a General Manager?
Do the Toronto Maple Leafs even have a GM at this point?
I mean, I know for a fact that they do, and that his name is Brad Treliving, but has anyone seen the guy?
Has anyone checked on him?
Is he OK?
Obviously, I'm being facetious, but does this guy even do anything? Like, where has he been for the last several months?
Do the Toronto Maple Leafs Even Have a General Manager?
Last September, I was thinking to myself, there is no way this team is going to enter this season with John Klingberg being their only defensive upgrade. I couldn't believe that they'd get a new GM and that the only thing he would do to make a blue-line that wasn't physical or particularly good at moving the puck any better was add a 30 year old washed up loser.
But he did.
And I also thought, "hey, they can't enter a season with an injury-prone, rookie goalie, a guy they just roasted in arbitration, and a 33 year old goalie who was never that good and who hasn't been good for five seasons.
But they did.
And when Timothy Liljegren, Mark Giordano and Jake McCabe all went down with injuries, I thought "hey there is no way they can avoid making a trade or calling up one of their top prospects."
But they did.
I thought they had to make a trade when they dressed a pretty embarassing lineup against the Bruins, and that there was no way they could keep running that lineup out there....
But they did.
So believe me, I was not shocked when they dressed Ilya Samsonov as their back-up last night. (I wonder how that went? I had to write this ahead of time).
But I will be shocked if they don't add a goalie. Joseph Woll isn't ready to comeback and you can't fight for playoff spot with Martin Jones in net. You couldn't even try to do that, because it would be so stupid.
So my question remains: do the Leafs even have a GM? If so, where is he? What's he even do? Does he realize that his job entitles him to make trades? This team has been underperforming all year long, and they haven't made any trades or moves to improve their team.
The blue-line is by far the worst out of any team that hopes to win the Stanley Cup this year. Their coach doesn't even ever want to play their third line, and their fourth also stinks even though it's got one of the most expensive fourth liners in the NHL on it.
No goalie, no bottom six, no defense.......no GM?
What is even going on with this team?
