No 3: Noah Dobson
By the way we write about Noah Dobson on this website, you might think he's the second-coming of Bobby Orr, but based on the players who are rumored to be available, Dobson is the perfect fit for the Leafs.
If you haven't read the 100 articles we've already written, the reason why Dobson is so desirable is because of his age, stature, and offensive ability. He currently leads the New York Islanders in ice-time, so it does seem unrealistic that the Islanders would want to trade him, but with a big contract on the horizon, the team may be inclined to move in a different direction.
As a pending RFA, Dobson may just want to sign a bridge-deal and re-up when the salary-cap goes up substantially in a few years, or he could prefer term. Either way, I wouldn't be shocked if he looked for a contract between $7-10M AAV, if not higher, because that's just how skillful he is.
Coming off a 70-point season in 2023-24, Dobson is currently having a down year, but his entire team is having a down year. A change of scenery could be very beneficial for Dobson and leading the Leafs power-play alongside the likes of Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mitch Marner and William Nylander could skyrocket his offensive numbers immediately.
Dobson has 297 shot attempts this year, which would put him second on the Leafs, and well above Oliver Ekmann-Larsson, who leads the Leafs defenseman with 220. One of Toronto's biggest problems has been generating offense from the blue-line, so as shown by Dobson's ability to shoot the puck, he would be a tremendous help.
If the Leafs were able to acquire all three of these players, they'd automatically be Stanley Cup favourites, but let's start with one.
