The Toronto Maple Leafs have a decent number of quality prospects within their system. Some have proven to be NHL-ready; others need more time.

Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs should feel good about their prospect pool, especially with Joseph Woll and Matthew Knies looking solid in the early season.

The Leafs prospects cupboard is not a full one, thanks to bad drafting when they were picking their superstars, and to a few high draft picks being traded away during the last four years of being a Cup Contender.  However, the Leafs did draft well since 2018 and were able to draft some decent prospects from outside the first round.

Current prospects Joseph Woll (2016), Nick Robertson (2019), Mikko Kokkonen (2019), Roni Hirvonen (2020), Topi Niemela (2020), Matthew Knies (2021), Ty Voit (2021), and Fraser Minten (2022) were all drafted after the first round by the Leafs.

All of them show promise in their development. It’s important not to rush them and only bring them up to the NHL when they’re ready. The only promising prospect the Leafs have who was drafted in the first round is 2023 first-round selection Easton Cowan.

Here is a close look at how many of the Leafs prospects are doing.
