Toronto Maple Leafs: Top 5 Marlies Players to Keep Your Eye On

Ty Voit

Ty Voit has been rising through the Toronto Maple Leafs prospect rankings since they drafted him with the 153rd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL entry draft.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Voit did not play during the 2020-21 season.

The Leafs had to use his 2019-20 stats to evaluate him.

During the 2019-20 OHL season, Voit registered eight goals and 20 assists for 28 points in 49 games. Although those numbers are not terrible, they didn’t jump off the page either.

Easy to see why he was still available in the fifth round.

Now, jump ahead to the season after he got drafted.

Voit registered 26 goals and 54 assists for 80 points in 67 games. He also registered six points in six playoff games for the Sarnia Sting that season.

Voit followed that up with an incredible 2022-23 season with 24 goals and 81 assists for 105 points in 67 games. He also recorded 16 points in 16 playoff games.

The 2023-24 season will be Voit’s first season in the AHL.

It will be interesting to see how he adapts to playing at the pro level. As much as he wants to impress Toronto Maple Leafs management, it’s more important for him to concentrate on his development.

I don’t expect him to be the Marlies top points producer, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he is. Fans will surely enjoy his playmaking abilities.
