Stats with the Leafs:

Games Started: 9

Wins: 3

Losses: 2

OT Losses: 4

GAA: 2.67

SV%: .898

Contract Status:

Signed with New Jersey in Free Agency as a Group 6 UFA

Overall Thoughts:

I’m sure that Kallgren isn’t too happy with his season looking back at it. He started the season as the third goalie for the Leafs and with some poor play combined with Woll’s solid play, he ended the season as the fourth option.

He became an unrestricted free agent as he had 4 games less than required to retain his rights. (Group 6 UFA) Kallgren only needed 4 more games and the Leafs elected to have Woll called up instead of him.

Ultimately it was the right choice, but I’m sure if Kallgren had played better they would have ensured he hit 28 games played.

Kallgren showed a decent level of calmness in his first season with the Leafs, but ultimately struggled with some poor rebounds and that didn’t improve enough this past season.

Kallgren has a lot of the tools a good goalie in the NHL needs but the fit with Toronto wasn’t there, and maybe his development wasn’t either

. I wish him the best of luck in New Jersey, but unfortunately this past season he left a lot left to be desired.
