The Toronto Maple Leafs traded their original 2023 first round pick for Ryan O’Reilly and Noel Acciari ahead of this past season’s trade deadline.

However, the Toronto maple Leafs acquired the Boston Bruins’ first round pick (and Erik Gustafsson) from the Washington Capitals for defenceman Rasmus Sandin less than a couple weeks later.

Due to the playoff and regular season results, this pick is now the 28th overall pick at this upcoming draft.

Assuming the Leafs choose to keep the pick on June 28th, there are many interesting players that could be available.

There are many interesting storylines heading into the draft later this month.

This will be the first draft without Kyle Dubas in the Leafs organization since the 2014 NHL draft that saw them select William Nylander, nearly a decade ago.

It will also be the first one since the Leafs replaced their former GM with Brad Treliving.

It will be interesting to see how he may change the types of players the Leafs select in his first opportunity to put his fingerprints on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
