Now that the Toronto Maple Leafs season has come to an end, the team could see some personnel changes both on and off the ice.

The future of head coach Toronto Maple Leafs Sheldon Keefe is in question with reporters like James Mirtle and Jonas Siegel estimating that he more than likely isn’t coming back.

In addition to that, the Leafs announced that they have parted ways with general manager Kyle Dubas. After five seasons at the helm, it seems there will be a new boss ahead of the 2023-2024 season.

On top of those changes, recent reports suggest that there could be other front office and coaching staff changes.

Toronto Maple Leafs Personnel Being Poached?

Pierre LeBrun of the Athletic wrote that the Washington Capitals may be on the hunt for Leafs assistant coach Spencer Carbery to fill their head coaching vacancy.

Before running the Leafs powerplay, Carbery was the head coach for Washington’s AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears. He saw a great deal of success as the Bears’ bench boss for three seasons, winning the Louis AR Pieri Award as AHL coach of the year in 2020-21.

As well, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that multiple teams in addition to Washington have sought permission to speak with Spencer Carbery.

This has already happened twice in recent memory with former Toronto Maple Leafs assistant coach D.J. Smith joining the Ottawa Senators as their head coach in 2019-20. The again, with Dave Hakstol joining the expansion Seattle Kraken as their first head coach in 2021-2022.

Another name that could be on the move is Leafs cap guru and assistant general manager, Brandon Pridham. He has been with the Leafs organization since the 2014-15 season and is largely given credit for the Leafs cap maneuvering over that time.

Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli reported that the Flames plan to request permission to interview him for their vacant GM job via twitter:

His departure would present a major blow for the Leafs organization as a whole. Not only is his expertise incredibly valuable but as a longtime executive in the Leafs front office, it would cause a major shift within the organization. It would also necessitate an extensive search for an immediate replacement, taking up much time and effort.

dark. Next. What Is Matthews Thinking

Although change is likely necessary on some level in the organization. Losing any of the other three members mentioned above adds to what is shaping up to be a busy off-season for the Leafs brass, whoever that consist of.
