The Toronto Maple Leafs scored on their first shot on net in Game 3 against the Florida Panthers. It was Sam Lafferty’s one-timer that did the trick against Sergei Bobrovsky. While some may praise David Kampf for his excellent pass, the real credit needs to go to Amar in Scarborough.

After all, he chose not to change out of his Leafs’ sweater despite the massive mustard spill that hit him in the chest earlier in the afternoon. Amar’s bold choice to risk the stain setting was exactly what the team needed to get on the board first.

That’s right Leafs fans. It’s not just superstition. Everything you do matters. With the Leafs trailing the Panthers in the series, they need you now more than ever.

Toronto Maple Leafs need their fans now more than ever before

The first thing every Maple Leafs’ fan needs to know is the importance of lucky charms. Having the right lucky charm can make all the difference. It doesn’t need to be anything specific, it just needs to have been assigned the task of being lucky.

Start raiding your grandma’s basement for anything that might bring the team good luck. You never know, that old pair of lucky socks or even the broken LeBron James bobblehead you find might be just what the Leafs need to clinch the win.

Positive thinking is always required. Begin each day by visualizing the Leafs’ scoring. In fact, don’t just stop at picturing the Leafs doing well; go all out. Build a dream board and start pasting photos of your favorite players doing awesome and inspiring things. The more unique the better. It was Bonnie from Thornhill who framed a baby picture of Mitch Marner devouring a bowl of spaghetti that gave the spark they needed to eliminate the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Food does matter. There are both lucky and unlucky snacks. It all depends on the sequence of events that either followed or happened during the consumption of that food. Remember Amar and his mustard-splattered jersey? Since it helped the team score, he won’t be washing that mustard off as now both the sweater and the mustard adorning it are lucky.

If you were eating nachos when Erik Gustafsson scored his deflection goal, then it looks like you’re going to need to order them again next game. They arrived with onions even though you asked that they get left off. Guess what? You like onions now. Prepare to eat them all over your future nachos. You’re going to need to do your part.

Fans, warm up your vocal cords pregame. It doesn’t matter where you’re watching the game from. It’s important that you yell “shoot it!” every time the opportunity arises. That won’t help anything or anyone but it shows everyone around just how much you understand the game of hockey.

The Leafs are going to need to do some heavy lifting as they try to battle back from a 3-0 deficit. Every single fan has a role to play to help make that happen. As the saying goes, it takes a blue and white village.
