Last week, the Toronto Maple Leafs clinched their 7th-straight playoff spot.  And as the calendar flips to April, we are now inching closer to playoff time.

As a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the playoffs can bring back some bad memories.

Not winning a playoff series since 2004 and not winning a Stanley Cup, or even making the finals, since 1967 will do that to you.

The Leafs fan in me is anxious about the playoffs, as I’m sure most Leafs fans are. However, the hockey fan in me is excited, as the best hockey of the season is about to be played in the coming weeks

Why You Should Go To a Toronto Maple Leafs Playoff Game

Last year, I was fortunate enough to attend game 1 of the Leafs-Lightning series, it was the first playoff game I’ve watched in person, and the Leafs dominated the game and won 5-0.

That game was one of the best if not the best game I’ve ever attended in my life. Not only did the Leafs blow out the two-time defending champs in game 1, Mitch Marner also scored a playoff goal for the first time in 3 years, and the crowd at Scotiabank Arena was electric. And even though the Leafs went on to lose the series against Tampa, I will still remember this game for a very long time.

Nothing quite beats the atmosphere of a playoff game, and this is not just for hockey, but all sports.

I advise all sports fans to try and make it to one playoff game in their lifetime. The prices may be steep, but it is worth saving your money and it is worth going.

The Toronto Maple Leafs don’t always have a rambunctious crowd in every regular season game(a Tuesday night game v.s. the Anaheim Ducks for example) but the playoffs are different, and when Leafs fans show up in the playoffs, they show up.

If you’re reading this article, you’ve more than likely watched a Leafs playoff game on T.V. The difference in atmosphere, stakes, noise, and overall excitement compared to the regular season is astounding, and very noticeable even on T.V.

For those who are going to an NHL playoff game this year, cherish it, it is an experience everyone deserves to have. And for those watching at home, at their work computer, or the local sports bar, enjoy it. The playoffs only come once a year.

And they’re just around the corner.
