The Toronto Maple Leafs are so hot that I haven’t heard anyone mention Kanye in over six minutes.

Wins or what we are now calling “tie equivalencies” in all of their games over the last month, the Toronto Maple Leafs are *basically* unbeatable.

Can they be cryogenically frozen right now and left on ice until the second week of April?

Science, and the NHL both say such a plan violates their rules.

Now onto the real news.

Toronto Maple Leafs and William Nylander

I mentioned controversy, and here it is:

Sportsnet declared the Toronto Maple Leafs to have the best four forwards in the NHL.

A more obvious, less controversial statement could not be made, that is, unless, you live in perpetual jealousy of the finest hockey team on earth.

When I googled “Toronto Maple Leafs News” to see if there was anything I was missing, the top story was about the “controversy” of a major sports network showing they at least casually follow the NHL.

Because, come on, the Oilers? Zach Hyman was replaced by Michael Bunting for 4 x less money, and Bunting promptly went out and had a season that was in the top 20 best 5v5 seasons of the last 20 years.

Sure, it was mostly due to riding shotgun with Marner and Matthews, but it still happened.

So tell me, how can Edmonton have the best group of forwards when their 3rd and 4th best guys would rank sixth and seventh on the Toronto Maple Leafs after Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares and Bunting?

Maybe stick to comparing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to his peers Alex Kerfoot and Pierre Engvall?

Or don’t, it’s honestly not my business. I’m just here to report on this most controversial of non-news stories.

In case you haven’t guessed, the Leafs don’t play until tomorrow.

In other news, William Nylander has won the NHL’s Player of the Week Runner up to the Runner Up Award.

I guess I could just have said he was the week’s third star, but I didn’t.  Charlie Lindgren of the Capitals was the first star, Tage Thompson, who scored 5 goals in one game last week was the second, and the third star, but first in our hearts, was William Nylander.

Nylander had a nice 5 point performance on Saturday, and had 7 points in 3 games overall to win the honour, such as it is.
