The Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the LA Kings at home.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are the NHL’s hottest team, currently riding a 9-0-3 streak, and going just about six weeks with only a single regulation loss.

The Leafs are third-overall in the NHL by points-percentage right now, and the only two teams ahead of them have incredible, but completely unsustainable, .800+ points percentages.

Plus, I don’t believe there is an honest person on this earth who thinks New Jersey or Boston are better than the Leafs right now.  At least not an honest person without a son currently playing for one of those teams.

As mentioned, the Leafs will play LA tonight, the same LA Kings that beat the Leafs back  in October.

The Kings are third in their division and have a decent 14-10-4, good for 11th overall.  The Kings main problem will be holding on to a playoff spot when Calgary and Edmonton both wake up.

Unfortunately for them, they failed to build a bigger lead during those team’s struggles.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs LA Kings

The Leafs will get TJ Brodie back tonight, and he’ll be paired on the 3rd pairing with Conor Timmins, who had a pretty good debut the other night.

The Leafs will stick with Gio/Holl and Lilly/Sandin up top for the time being.

You just hope that the Leafs understand that Liljegren and Sandin are on their way to being their two best defenseman, most likely they already are, and that the return of Brodie and eventually also Rielly doesn’t relegate them back to the third pairing.

Plus, I would think a team with Gio and Holl as it’s 3rd pairing is probably the deepest blue-line in the NHL, although, after what’s happened the last month or so, I doubt anyone doubts that anymore.

Then again, I did listen to 10 minutes of talk radio yesterday where they discussed Auston Matthews getting into a fight, so I guess what I’m saying is that it goes without saying that even the most obvious things (ie your best player shouldn’t fight) are not obvious to everyone.

Of course it would be poetic if the Toronto Maple Leafs were to lose with Brodie back after going unbeaten in his absence, but I doubt that happens because the Leafs are on fire and LA isn’t a very good team.

OK, yes.  They are alright.

But the Toronto Maple Leafs are the best team in the NHL.

It seems like a good night for Auston Matthews to get a hattrick, and for Mitch Marner to extend his not-even-half-way-to-the-record points streak.   Go Leafs!
