Toronto Maple Leafs vs What I Have Been Assured Is a Real NHL Team

The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off of a solid victory Saturday against the Senators.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will play their fourth game of the season tonight, and use their third goalie.

That puts them on pace to use 61.5 different goalies this year.

As we all know by now, Matt Murray lasted a hilarious one game(s) in the Leafs net before suffering some form of lower body injury or another (was it a cracked exoskeleton? I forget).

I kid. He torn his abductor muscle, which if I remember med school at all, which I don’t, because I never went,  basically means he ripped apart the muscle that controls whether or not he can move he hip and leg out to the side.

In my amateur medical opinion, that ain’t good.  I can’t see that being a four week injury for a goalie.  I bet it ends up being more like thanks for the cap space, don’t worry about buying tickets for the next two years.  But we’ll see.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs the Arizona Coyotes

Jacob Chychrun is injured.

The Coyotes play in a 5000 seat arena, which I cannot believe Gary Bettman allowed to happen, since it makes him look really, really, extremely bad.

They supposedly said that they will ONLY play there for a MINIMUM of Three Years.

Fold.

The.

Team.

Quebec City doesn’t have a team, even though they probably have 12 arenas in that city better than where the Coyotes will play.

Damn.

I got all raged out.

Where was I?

Oh yes, the NHL is letting the Coyotes play in a smaller arena than I played Atom hockey in.  They are calling it the Mullet arena.

Seriously.

Even though I am a bit of a homer and always try to find the positives about the Toronto Maple Leafs, you have to believe me when I say that there aren’t any players dressing for the Coyotes tonight who would have for-sure made the Leafs, other than Clayton Keller.

For-sure there are a couple guys who could have competed with the likes of Joey Anderson and Wayne Simmonds for a job.

But only Clayton Keller would 100% make the  Leafs.  Maybe they’d also take Nick Schmaltz, but the odds are he’d get injured trying to relate  a Matt Murray Injury Anecdote.

Erik Kallgren is in net.

There are no other lineup changes.

I would’ve liked to see Nick Robertson and Wayne Simmonds go in for Malgin and Aube-Kabul, but I also know for-sure that the players who currently make up the Leafs (so far poorly playing) 4th line are all good players who they need in the lineup.  I expect all three to find their way and be solid contributors.

I also expect what is happening in Arizona will lead to a new commissioner  and another Canadian team.  5000 seats, and one player than can make the Leafs.  Two if you’re being generous.

Next. On Murray, Robertson, and Simmonds. dark

That, my friends, is a joke.  Whoever is in charge of the Coyotes should be embarrassed, and immediately forced to sell the team someone who actually cares about the NHL.
