Toronto Maple Leafs Injuries Couldn’t Happen at a Better Time

The Toronto Maple Leafs have had an unfortunate amount of injuries so far.

All the more so, since the Toronto Maple Leafs only just opened training camp, and have so far played just the two games (on a single day).

But regarding all the injuries, one thing jumps out at me:

They couldn’t have come at a better time.

The NHL Pre-Season is extremely boring and totally meaningless.  The Leafs injuries are unable to hurt them at this time, and therefore could not have come at a better time.

If they’re going to happen, and they might as well happen now, when they do the least amount of damage.

Plus, injuries, although not the best conversation starter, do give us something to talk about.

Sure, no one wants Timothy Liljegren to miss six weeks, or John Tavares to miss three, but at least they won’t miss that many games.  And, on the bright side, the Toronto Maple Leafs depth will get an early stress test, and that can’t help but being a good thing.

One other advantage I can see is that the Leafs will get to try a bunch of young players who otherwise might not have gotten a chance.  Alex Steeves,  Nick Abruzzes, and Nick Robertson will all be looking to take advantage.

Toronto Maple Leafs Injury List

The list is getting pretty long.

Adam Gaudette Hurt his shoulder.  He is doubtful to start the season, but he always was!

Johhny T is, as you know, sidelined with an oblique injury.  The Leafs really should have been more forthcoming about this injury. Just kidding, they weren’t oblique at all.

I’ll be here all night.

Jake Muzzin is out with “being a 33 year old with a no movement clause.”

Pierre Engvall is out with a rare affliction that occurs rarely in giraffes.  Actually the Leafs are, ironically, being pretty oblique here, as Mr. Engvall is listed only as having the dreaded upper body injury.

Timothy Liljegren has the hernia. Six  weekends + all the other days too.

And finally, last but certainly not least, is Rasmus Sandin, out with a bruised ego. Just a bad joke there… honestly, why begrudge the guy a chance to make some money? Pro Sports is one of the only non-disgusting ways to even become a millionaire, so I say good for him.

That concludes the Leafs injury list, as far as I am aware, but no doubt several team members were injured while I was writing these here 400 words.
