The Toronto Maple Leafs have chosen to go with the Ontario Dairy Farmers milk logo as their jersey patch partner.

This season will be the first to feature ads on NHL jerseys as a means to collect more revenue.  Last season we saw the introduction of ads on NHL helmets.  The Toronto Maple Leafs went with TikTok as their helmet ad partner.

Many fans are frustrated by the addition of these ads.  Ads on helmets are one thing, but many fans support the Toronto Maple Leafs and other NHL teams by buying replica jerseys.  Fans want their jerseys to be as close as possible to the real thing but don’t necessarily want to support the company advertised on the patch.

However, what bothers me the most about these jersey ads is the company chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs.  The dairy industry is a terrible and controversial industry that is detrimental to animal welfare, our environment and our health.

Toronto Maple Leafs Milk Jersey Ads are Disgusting

For decades, the dairy industry has been misleading the public with ads convincing us that milk “does the body good” when it may do the opposite.  Milk and other dairy products contain sugar, cholesterol, and hormones and are possibly not as healthy as we’ve been led to believe.

Sure, the milk commercials tell you that milk contains calcium and protein, but that’s like saying soda pop is healthy because it contains water.  Calcium and protein are very common nutrients that can easily be found in a vast number of healthy foods.

All dairy products are high in cholesterol but some of the most cholesterol dense foods occur when dairy is processed.

Luckily, many people are now choosing healthier alternatives to dairy milk including oat milk, almond milk, and cashew milk.  The USDA says milk fluid consumption has dropped 40% since 1975.

It’s easy to understand why dairy is unhealthy.  The human body creates enough cholesterol that dietary cholesterol is unnecessary and detrimental.  Humans are also the only animals that continue to consume a mother’s milk after adolescence.  We don’t need the same growth formula that babies do.

For those who don’t know, cows (like all mammals including humans) only produce milk when giving birth.  The baby cows are an unwanted biproduct of the dairy industry and are usually killed off before they can drink any of the valuable milk which nature had intended for them.
