Morgan Rielly
Rielly indicated that having Liljegren and Sandin both missing camp, Jordie Benn or Victor Mete have an opportunity to earn a spot. He is happy with the depth the Maple Leafs have on defense. Regarding the Dubas situation, Rielly says players need to produce, and the GM stuff will sort itself out.
Jake Muzzin
Muzzin says he feels good and has no lingering effects from injuries or his concussion. He looks forward to starting camp fresh and healthy. When asked about the Toronto Maple Leafs’ new goaltenders, he said the key is working on communication. Once he knows how they like to play the puck, his job will become easier.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Day 2 of training camp that Muzzin will miss some of camp with back discomfort. He is expected back on the ice next week.
Mark Giordano
Mark Giordano is looking forward to a complete season in Toronto. He enjoyed his brief stint with the team after last season’s trade deadline and is looking for a fresh start. Regarding his new two-year contract, he said re-signing was a no-brainer. He plans on playing with confidence in front of both new goaltenders.
Matt Murray
Matt Murray is looking forward to a fresh start with a new team. He is excited about the level of talent playing in front of him. Regarding the competition between Ilya Samsonov and himself, Murray says he looks forward to working with Samsonov.
He knows that both of them will push each other to play at their best. Murray is focusing all his energy on proving himself.
