Toronto Maple Leafs Prospect Tournament Roster Set

The Toronto Maple Leafs prospects will participate in the annual Traverse City prospects tournament this weekend. Toronto’s roster will have 16 forwards, eight defensemen, and three goaltenders.

The tournament will begin on Thursday, September 15th, and feature five NHL teams. Prospects from the Toronto Maple Leafs will play against prospects from The Detroit Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, and St. Louis Blues.

Toronto’s schedule for the tournament will see them play the Stars on Thursday, the Blues on Friday, Blue Jackets on Sunday, and the Red Wings on Monday. Some prospects from this tournament will also be attending the Maple Leafs main training camp. For them, this is a bit of a head start to showcase themselves.

September 21st will be the first day of training camp for the Toronto Maple Leafs, with September 22nd being the first day of on-ice workouts. A few prospects attending this tournament and Toronto’s main camp are Nick Robertson, Alex Steeves, and Nick Abruzzese, among others.

Toronto’s roster is a mix of guys with NHL and AHL experience, newly drafted players, and some junior hockey invitees. Here is a look at all players taking part in the tournament.

Goaltenders

Toronto will have three goaltenders in this tournament. Two are from within the Maple Leafs organization, and one is an invitee from the OHL.

Luke Cavallin

Luke Cavallin got signed by the Toronto Marlies on June 6th, 2022. His contract is a two-year AHL deal. The 21-year-old is a British-born Canadian born in Swindon, England. Although his contract is an AHL deal, Cavallin will likely start the season in the ECHL with the Newfoundland Growlers.

Last season, Cavallin posted a record of 36-14-4 for the Flint Firebirds of the OHL. He finished the season with a .910 SV% and a 3.16 GAA with two shutouts. During the playoffs, Cavallin posted a record of 11-7-1 with a .929 SV% and a 2.70 GAA in 19 games.

Keith Petruzzelli

Keith Petruzzelli is entering his second season in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. He split time between the Marlies and Growlers last season. For the Growlers, Petruzzelli posted a record of 16-6-1 with a .927 GAA and a 2.01 GAA in 23 games. For the Marlies, he posted a record of 3-1-0 with a .902 SV% and a 3.12 GAA in five appearances.

During the playoffs for the Growlers, Petruzzelli went 9-7-2 in 19 games with a .895 SV% and a 3.04 GAA. He will start the 2022-23 season with the Growlers.

Marco Costantini

Marco Costantini is an invitee from the OHL. He is not under contract but could use this tournament to impress Toronto or another NHL team. The 20-year-old is from Hamilton, Ontario, and spent two of his last three seasons playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs in the OHL.

Costantini posted a record of 31-9-4 with six shutouts in 45 games last season. He finished the 2021-22 regular season with a .917 SV% and a 2.32 GAA. During the 2022 OHL playoffs, he helped the bulldogs win the Ross Robertson Cup as OHL champions and advance to the Memorial Cup.

The Bulldogs lost the Memorial Cup to the Saint John Sea Dogs. Constantini finished the playoffs with a record of 16-2-1 and a .913 SV% with a 2.29 GAA.
