The 2021-22 season has not been smooth sailing for the Toronto Maple Leafs or the rest of the NHL but that hasn’t deterred Vegas bookmakers and betters. Despite the lack of hockey being played, bets continue to be made. Coming to the end of 2021, we look at the lines for Toronto Maple Leafs futures bets.

For those unfamiliar with the term, futures is a gambling term, meaning what will happen in the distant future instead of wagering on individual games. Prior to the start of the season, we looked at the odds of various futures options including the chances of the Maple Leafs winning the Stanley Cup. Thanks to WynnBET, we can see how the lines have changed.

We will be using American Odds, known as the Moneyline, to evaluate each of the futures options. These odds are preceded by either a plus (+) or a minus (-). On a successful wager, both return the original bet, but there is a significant difference in what is won. To help those unfamiliar, we will use the last game the Maple Leafs played as a betting example. They played the Edmonton Oilers in on Dec 14. The lines for that game were:

Toronto Maple Leafs – 120
Edmonton Oilers  +110

A successful better who placed a wager on the Leafs received -120 odds on the team winning the game. In order to win $100, the gambler needed to drop $120. By creating that $120 bet, the ticket would return both the $100 profit plus the return of the initial stake of $120 for a total of payout of $220.

Though the Leafs won that contest 5-1, had the Oilers been victorious, a $100 bet on them would have won the better $110. Combining the stake and profit would have paid a successful ticket a total of $210.

Winning the Atlantic Division

Tampa Bay Lightning +140
Toronto Maple Leafs +175
Florida Panthers +225
Boston Bruins +1750
Detroit Red Wings +10000
Buffalo Sabres +50000
Ottawa Senators +50000
Montreal Canadiens +50000

Placing a bet here is wagering on a team to have the best record in the Atlantic Division at the conclusion of the regular season. Things haven’t changed much for Toronto. The opening lines were +220 to win the division. That had them with the second best odds behind only the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, Tampa Bay Lightning, at +130. WynnBET believes things have improved for the Leafs. The lightning dropped slightly to +140 and the Leafs moved to +175. Also, the Florida Panthers, who started the year at +550, is now third at +225.

Winning the Eastern Conference

Tampa Bay Lightning +350
Toronto Maple Leafs +375
Florida Panthers +450
Carolina Hurricanes +500
Washington Capitals +650
New York Rangers +800
Boston Bruins +900
Columbus Blue Jackets +4000
Detroit Red Wings +4000
New York Islanders +4000
Philadelphia Flyers +4000
New Jersey Devils +10000
Buffalo Sabres +15000
Ottawa Senators +15000
Montreal Canadiens +15000

Oddsmakers believe that the Toronto Maple Leafs have a strong chance at winning the Eastern Conference. Once again, they fall just behind the Lightning for the second best odds. They are also once again followed by the Panthers, suggesting that the Atlantic Division is by far the strongest division in the conference. Gamblers got a great line on the Leafs at +600 prior to the start of the season, especially now that it is +375.
