As fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs, we all know at least one person who has an impressive collection of Leafs memorabilia.

While this is a common thing if you live in Toronto or the surrounding area, one place where finding an incredible Toronto Maple Leafs collection is surprising,  is in Alberta.

That brings me to Kurtis Stevenson who lives in the small town of Redcliff, Alberta.  A town with a population of 5,600 close to the city of Medicine Hat. Kurtis sticks out like a blue thumb surrounded by fans of the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames.

Kurtis has a room in his basement full of enough Toronto Maple Leafs memorabilia to make most fans admire  it in amazement. He has every inch covered in everything from Jerseys to helmets to posters, and sticks.

Until recently, Kurtis’s collection was unknown to most Leafs fans. That is until he started posting videos on Twitter during Leafs game days. Since then he has started to gather quite a following. A following that continues to grow as more and more Leafs fans see his videos.

I recently chatted with Kurtis and he was kind enough to answer a few questions about his man cave. In this interview I will refer to Kurtis as KS and myself as JR.

Interview With Toronto Maple Leafs Superfan Kurtis Stevenson

JR: When did you start collecting Leafs memorabilia?

KS: I started collecting 15 years ago, but sold off most of it and really went hard in the last 5 years (Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner era). I believe these guys will do something special, so 80% of my cave is current players, 10% legends, and the other 10% is players like Zach Hyman, Kasperi Kapanen, and Frederik Andersen.

JR: How big would you say your collection is?

KS: I have 350+ pieces, and every single framed jersey is game worn and some are even signed. Every other piece of equipment is also game worn.
JR: That’s very impressive.

JR: Which piece would you say is your favourite?

KS: My favourite thing is the Matthews rookie season worn gloves. He is going to go into the Hockey Hall of Fame one day, and I am blessed to have something from his rookie season.
JR: What an amazing piece of history to have in your possession.

JR: Is there one thing you would love to add to your collection more than anything else?

KS: The one unicorn item I have been after, is a game worn Matthews or Marner Jersey or helmet. They are so hard to find unfortunately, and that’s been a mission for a while of mine.
JR: I hope you’re able to add one of those pieces to your collection some day

JR: What has the response from Leafs Nation been like since you started posting your game day videos on Twitter?

KS: The response to my videos has been super refreshing and appreciated. As a blue and white fan in small town Alberta, I am surrounded by all flames and oilers fans, so I don’t get a lot of high fives for the cave unfortunately. My wife and four kids don’t like hockey, so I go downstairs and crack a beer and cheer on the leafs by myself, so the support from Leafs Nation has been incredible to see.

JR: You have definitely turned me into a fan of yours Kurtis. Thank you so much for doing this interview with me.
KS: Thank you so very much.
