Team USA is another team that gets viewed as being a powerhouse at the Winter Olympics. They will make sure that Team Canada does not have an easy path to the gold medal game. This team has a lot of offensive ability mixed in with some grit.
When you think about the possibility of which players will be on Team USA, you can see why playing them will not be easy. The simple fact that Matthew Tkachuk and Brady Tkachuk will be on the team makes them more difficult to play against. Both of them play with plenty of sandpaper and grit.
Then you factor in Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews on a team that will also include Patrick Kane, Dylan Larkin, Seth Jones, Kyle Connor, and others. They will have a very talented team and will have gold on their minds for sure. These Olympics will be Matthews’ first Olympic experience, and hopefully not his last.
Matthews might not be the only American from Toronto who gets to be on Team USA for these Olympic games. Goaltender Jack Campbell is making a case for being selected as well. Over the past two seasons, Campbell has a record of 23-6-3 with three shutouts.
Campbell will be competing against Connor Hellebuyck, John Gibson, and Thatcher Demko for a chance to play in the crease for Team USA. Even if he doesn’t get to play, just being selected to the team would be an unbelievable experience. Campbell has such a positive attitude, that just having him in the locker room could be a good thing.
