Toronto Maple Leafs Are Great Bet to Win Stanley Cup Next Season

The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently  19-1 to win the Stanley Cup next season, which is a great bet.

If you put $100 down on the Toronto Maple Leafs to win the Stanley Cup next season and they actually won, you’d win $1,900. Easy money, right?

The Leafs have the fifth best odds to win the Stanley Cup next season, according to Fanduel Sportsbook. Only the following teams have better odds.

• Colorado Avalanche: +750
• Vegas Golden Knights: +750
• Tampa Bay Lightning: +950
• Boston Bruins: +1200
• Toronto Maple Leafs: +1900

If you’re unfamiliar with betting, the Leafs number means that for every $1 you bet, you’ll get 19X that in return. So like I mentioned before, a $100 bet would pay out $1,900. What better way to spend your hard-earned cash than to put it on your favorite team to win the Stanley Cup?

We’re going to focus on the Leafs, but before we move on, one long-shot bet is the Winnipeg Jets at +3300. They have some of the worst odds to win the Stanley Cup next year, but could very well make a run with Connor Hellebuyck in net.

Toronto Maple Leafs Have A Great Chance

Since you’re probably not going to be able to spend your money on going to a Leafs game next year, why not invest in the team winning the Stanley Cup? The team hasn’t won a championship in 53 years, but next year is their year!

The Leafs roster is stacked and it seems to be getting better every day. The additions of Wayne Simmonds, T.J. Brodie, Jimmy Vesey, Travis Boyd and Zach Bogosian are a few moves that have made the Leafs much better than they were last season.

If you look at the reason why the Leafs struggled last year, it had nothing to do with their best players. Everything came down to injuries and goaltending. Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares, William Nylander and Zach Hyman were awesome, and in fact the Leafs were one of the best teams in the NHL in games that Michael Hutchinson didn’t start.

So instead of trading away any of their core, they upgraded their depth and defense for essentially nothing. Sure, they traded away Kasperi Kapanen and Andreas Johnsson, but they’re replaceable players. Alexander Barabanov, Nick Robertson, Wayne Simmonds or Jimmy Vessey can all step in and be interchangeable to Kapanen and Johnsson.

The team now has a ton of different options for their third and fourth lines, and most importantly they have better defense. The Leafs defense is going to look at a lot different next year as T.J. Brodie, Mikko Lehtonen, Zach Bogasian and Rasmus Sandin will all be playing meaningful minutes, instead of Cody Ceci, Tyson Barrie and Martin Marincin.

Bogosian will most likely be the seventh defenseman every night, but with so much depth, the Leafs could dress 11 forwards and play 7 defense every other night if they wanted to. Matthews is skilled enough to double-shift  and then you could put in Bogosian to help with the penalty-kill and provide a different element, without having to take Sandin or Lehtonen out of the line-up.

In my opinion, this Leafs team under Kyle Dubas is turning into a serious contender and I’m surprised the Leafs odds aren’t better. Getting them at +1900 is serious value and I’m going to go put $100 on them to win right now.
