5. Torey Krug

Honestly, Torey Krug would be an amazing addition to the Leafs blueline. Sure he’s a left-handed defenseman, but his skill, size and experience on a successful Boston team would be very valuable.

At the beginning of the season, it seemed like there was no way he’d ever leave the Bruins, hinting at possible contract negotiations early on. However, now it is starting to look more possible that the 29-year-old defenseman might test the free agent market.

In April, Krug said, “There hasn’t been any discussion,” when speaking about a contract extension. If Krug ends up becoming a UFA, he’ll likely be the most coveted left-handed defenseman on the market.

Yes, the Leafs are possibly only looking for right-handed blue liners, but Krug would definitely be a great addition to the Leafs defense nonetheless.

Although he may be asking for a pretty penny, Krug should be a player the Leafs target if he hits the open market. Whether he decides to come to Toronto or not may be a pipe dream, but that door is definitely open more than ever now.
