  • Even though Maple Leafs defenceman Bryan Berard suffered a serious slash to his eye’s sclera he managed to play six more seasons in the NHL. His retina was torn his retina detached when Marian Hossa’s stick stuck Berard in his right eye. Doctors initially believed he’d lose his eye.
