It was just a normal weekend for the Toronto Marlies, who played three games in three nights, but for Toronto Maple Leafs prospect — it was the best weekend of his career.

The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect had six goals in three games this past weekend. Scoring three on Friday, two on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Three of those goals helped propel the Marlies into 4th in the North Division, where they’re still tied with Laval Rocket at 53 points.

It’s been a whirlwind year for the team — with former head coach, Sheldon Keefe joining the Toronto Maple Leafs, to having new head coach, Greg Moore come in and carry on the torch.

Not an easy task, but Moore has them still playing great at home. The Toronto Marlies have an 18-7-0-2 record, putting them a top the North Division for points at home.

“We’re very happy.” Said Moore of the teams play this weekend (via Marlies.ca). “The team is starting to see the results of the work and labour they’ve been putting in for the last few weeks.”

However, it wasn’t just the performance of Marchment that everyone should be in ‘awe’ about. The goaltending was stellar with Joseph Woll securing his 2nd career shutout with 38 saves against the Rochester Americans. And Kasimir Kaskisuo — only allowing two goals against the Rocket on Sunday.

“Yeah, they really stepped up this weekend.” Said Marchment (via Marlies.ca). “We trust them back there and we have full faith that they’re going to shut the door when we need them to.”

Could the Toronto Marlies goaltending tandem change in the near future?

As the Toronto Maple Leafs season progresses, so does the likelihood of either Michael Hutchinson being sent down or traded.

Either way, it’s unlikely that he clears waivers, but then again, who knows. His play has been like a rollercoaster in the NHL. A few good starts, then a bad one, then some good ones and then some more bad ones.

His AHL career though? A little different.

Hutchinson has been incredible while with the Toronto Marlies, only playing three games, but posting a .942 save percentage.

If he can clear waivers, the team has a lot of thinking to do. They will have three goalies and one will have to be pushed out of the tandem.

It should be the 2nd option though. I believe Kyle Dubas should at least test the market and see if there’s any team that wants him, so they don’t give him up for nothing.

But if they can’t get anything? Well there will be a lot for Moore and Toronto Marlies management to think about.
