I believe the Toronto Maple Leafs will win the Stanley Cup this year.
Fans of rival teams have made this joke for years and years. The joke about how all Leaf fans think every year is the year they win the cup. But in all my years of watching hockey, this year is the only time I’ve firmly believed that the Leafs will take it all.
The reason for this is because the Leafs have a better team now than they’ll likely ever have again in the near future. Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Mitch Marner are all locked up. Morgan Rielly is locked up. Frederik Andersen is locked up. And on top of this, they have one year left of both Jake Muzzin and Tyson Barrie.
It’s almost certain that at least one of those two defensemen will be gone after this year. This is the best team the Leafs have had in years. And Kyle Dubas knows it.
I think that he’s going to make the moves necessary at the deadline to bolster this roster and gear them up for a run at the Stanley Cup.
The Leafs have a deep enough team where they really don’t have many weaknesses. We all know how good their forward core is. The defensive core actually looks good for once.
And If Hutchinson can be any better than how Garret Sparks was last year, then they’re laughing. The team has every chance to win it this year. If the Blues can win it all, then the Leafs absolutely can.
They need to capitalize on the window of opportunity and take all the appropriate measures to win.
