Edmonton Oilers – January 6th

Every year, I tell myself “Nick, you’re buying tickets to see Connor McDavid play in Toronto.” Every year, I also say, “I don’t have that kind of money.”

The Oilers have a new coach, a new GM and a new look. With McDavid leading the team and new arrival James Neal in the lineup, this could be an exciting game to watch.

Another reason why it’s so exciting; McDavid is from here, so it becomes his homecoming. Every time he comes to Toronto, he usually brings a strong performance, which does make it fun.

Unless, the Oilers fall off the rails and not be close to a playoff spot. Either way, McDavid is playing. The best player in the world will be in Toronto and if that’s not worth going to a game for, I don’t know what is.

You also can’t leave out Leon Draisaitl. With him on the 2nd line as a centre, it makes the Oilers a much deeper team, with a lot more to prove. We may even get to see Draisaitl on McDavid’s wing, if their new coach, Dave Tippett, thinks it’s a good fit.

Either way, this will be one of the most exciting games of the season. Two teams with great one and two centres. This is usually one of the more expensive games to go see because of McDavid, but if you have the cash, this one is worth it.

But for me, I likely will not attend due to financial reasons.
