Tuesday’s are just the worst, but Toronto Maple Leafs player highlight videos sure aren’t.

When I was in University, this clip could have been my screensaver.  It was my go to “check out this prospect in the WHL” to impress people.  Funny how life comes full circle and now he’s on the Leafs.

So let’s break it down.

Goal 1

Nothing special here.  Ennis is in the right place when the rebound comes out to him.  The goalie was off balance so Ennis was able to push the puck wide and slide the puck five-hole fairly easily.

Goal 2

Ennis receives a pass little behind him but is able to drag the puck to his backhand quickly which is why he has the goalie so out of position.  That or the goalie had a lazy read on the play.  Regardless what makes this goal special is how Ennis fends off the stick check of the defenseman along with the body check of the back-checking forward.

Goal 3

A beneficiary of a good forecheck, debatable non-call penalty, and a great feed backdoor.  Ennis gets lost in all the commotion which allows him to be so wide open.

Goal 4

This might be my favourite.

The 5th goal is the one everyone will talk about but the 4th goal is a pure goal scorers goal.  He walks in over the line with speed, freezes the goalie with a fake clapper, then finishes short side.  Ennis makes it look so easy.  At this point, you have to think the other coach is wondering why they keep giving Ennis so much space.

Goal 5

This is the goal that keeps you coming back.  This is the goal that you practice on the pond with your buddies.  It’s also the goal that #24 on Prince Albert would like removed from the internet.  Ennis crosses the blue, throws on the brakes, gives the defenceman the ole “How do ya do?”, and walks him to the right.  The defenseman is now scrambling and is just trying to keep him to the outside while also recovering from that last dangle. The problem is, he’s lost a step on him.

Ennis takes the puck behind the net.  The goalie continues the theme of biting on Ennis’ first move and both him and the defenseman read the play as if it will be a wrap around.

This is where Ennis “kills two birds with one stone”.  He throws the puck off the back of the net leaving both the defensemen and the goalie on the wrong side of the net.  Yet again having an open net to slide the puck into.

Goal 6

Probably a garbage goal right?  I wouldn’t be sharing this with every person in my dorm if it was.  This is the “cherry on top” goal we were all hoping for.  Ennis picks off a poor zone-clearing pass to go on a breakaway.  The move he pulls has shades of Pat Kane with a mix of Sam Gagner.  Fake shot.  Fake forehand.  Fake five-hole.  Tuck backhand far side.  The goalie bit on every deke.

I think I like this highlight pack so much because the goals get better as the game goes on.  He begins with a couple right-time right-place type goals and finishes with a goal of the year type goals.

Not a great video for the Prince Albert Raiders or anyone battling Ennis for a 4th line winger spot.
