The Toronto Maple Leaf are on a winning streak!

Three games in a row, to be exact!  And getting it done with their best player out of the lineup.  We couldn’t be happier.  However, before this little run, the Toronto Maple Leafs had lost six of nine games, including a stretch where they lost four of five.

It was during this tumultuous period that the staff of Editor in Leafs gathered around are super large, and perfectly round table to discuss recent events.  Our leader – a mysterious man in a knock-off Carlton the Bear costume – posed us the following question:

“Having lost six of nine, and needing OT to beat an expansion team, what do you think the main source of struggles with the Toronto Maple Leafs is?”

His Carlton costume was seriously bad.  It could have used a wash.   But we didn’t mind.  We all had our sponsor-supplied off-brand Fresca and were ready to discuss the Leafs.

Even though the three game winning streak might make our question a little dated, it’s important not to read too much into streaks. The Leafs aren’t as bad as when they lost four of five, and they’re not as good as when they win three in a row.  But by examining them at their worst, maybe we can get some insight into where they go from here.

Or maybe not! Maybe this is just us panicking, as some eternal optimists have labeled anyone critical.  Either way, it should be interesting.
