The Toronto Maple Leafs need to remain consistent.
I can’t recall in recent memory a start to the season that’s been this successful for the Toronto Maple Leafs and again, what a time it is to be alive, eh?
Through seven games played, the Leafs have only lost one and that loss came at the hands of the New Jersey Devils, a team that was probably overlooked by many for their lackluster 2016-17 campaign.
I’m to blame as well, but really, who thought they’d come out with a bang like they have.
It reminds me of another young team, any takers?
Regardless, the Leafs have started the season on a very strong note, they’ve made a statement that they are an elite team that will drive play most nights and if you can’t keep up with their speed or ability to score in bunches, you’ll look like a high school varsity team.
Fact.
By the way, we have an app, so be sure to download it and you’ll get our content straight to your mobile device.
There’s just one thing to keep in mind and it comes with the territory, if consistency isn’t present, things may fall apart.
Note that I didn’t say will, just that there’s a possibility.
Anyways, let’s look at why I think this team can remain consistent, baring in mind that I’m not speaking of potential injuries because that’s quite unpredictable.
We could just wrap it up by saying, Auston Matthews, but where’s the fun in that?

One would expect to see the scoring drop significantly over the course of seven games with most teams in the NHL, but not the Leafs.
In almost any situation, they can score whether it be five on five or the powerplay, however, we’ve yet to see them score shorthanded this season.
That’ll come in time, I promise.
They’ve also proved that they can win blowout games, surmount comebacks, protect leads and even bounce back after giving up a large lead albeit nobody wants to see the last one occur again, seriously, it needs to stop.
Certain players like Matthews, William Nylander, Nazem Kadri, James van Riemsdyk and Zach Hyman continue to impress each night and never look out of sync.
Now, I could’ve named a few more players in that category, but naming almost the entire roster seemed a bit out of hand.
My point is that this team has proved their consistency.
Some guys will step up in big ways some nights while others will have their backs the off nights, so everyone’s getting their fair share.
Just look at the point summary this early on in the season, it’s a beautiful thing having everyone chip in.
Been a fun ride so far, let’s keep the momentum and consistency going.
