Toronto Maple Leafs: There Might Be Something Fishy Going On
Are the Toronto Maple Leafs up to something?
Now, what I’m going to be talking about isn’t some secret Toronto Maple Leafs report, just some thoughts on paper.
Okay, really on a computer, tablet or mobile phone, unless you print my articles out, then that’s just awesome.

However, I will discuss something that I’ve had my mind on for quite a while and I’m just happy that someone else thinks the same.
Quite possibly this person may have a source but is lacking the information to back it up or isn’t allowed to share everything just yet.
Nevertheless, I’m going to give a few ideas as to what might be cooking for the Leafs.
Also, I’ve been on a brief hiatus lately, so I’m sorry for the lack of content, but I’m back and right ready to go.
That being said, let’s talk a little bit.
Howard Berger
I’m not going to include the visible tweet in this article because it’s very vague and with good reason, potentially.
Maybe he doesn’t have a lot more information to provide or whatever conclusion you could draw from his statement could be accurate.
Basically, Berger has a ‘source’ that is saying the Leafs are up to something.
For most of us, that means nothing because that’s pretty much all he said.
On the other hand, I actually think they are up to something and it’ll eventually come to fruition, so I’ll give a couple ideas on that below.
Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk

Yes, both have been in the rumor mill for a while.
No, neither are worth a top tier defenseman or very much at all.
Think about it for a second, they’re both entering the last year on their respective contracts, so the idea of trading a James van Riemsdyk for Chris Tanev is absurd.
It’s just not going to happen.
Still, the Leafs could trade one, both or neither, but however you look at it, something will be done.
Traded, let go or resigned.
Let’s say that Tyler Bozak was traded, well, he’s not worth more than van Riemsdyk, so the return won’t be monumental.
Maybe an okay prospect and a pick?
And you could up that a little for van Riemsdyk.
I think resigning one of them would be an even bigger surprise and success for the Leafs moving forward.
Connor Brown
Downtown Connor Brown has yet to be signed and that’s okay.
He’ll most likely get a contract when the Leafs cap is able to breathe a bit.
Or, or, or, Brown gets traded and that could be the something fishy I’ve been feeling for a while.
Brown could be a massive piece going out in order to bring in a top two right handed defenseman.
I know how you all feel about Brown being traded and I’m not saying they should do this or that there’s even any inclination that this would happen, just throwing the idea out there.
Kasperi Kapanen
One other fishy topic that’s been out in the open for a while is Kasperi Kapanen and what the Kapanen do you do with him?
Sorry for the terrible pun right there.
He could fetch a large return as we all know, but to reiterate myself, I’m not saying he should be moved or it has any actual traction.
Just a thought.

What do y’all think, are the Leafs up to anything?
They’ve been quiet lately and in the past, that leads to results under Lou Lamoriello and company.
