The Toronto Maple Leafs are fiercely linked to Colin Miller.

If the Toronto Maple Leafs were to acquire Miller in a trade, that would definitely solve their defensive woes.

Or at least help.

Miller was recently selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft from the Boston Bruins.

Oh, and Auston Matthews won the Calder Memorial Trophy.

Phew, needed to slot that in somewhere.

Anyways.

Miller was drafted 151st overall to the Los Angeles Kings in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

He didn’t suit up in the NHL until being traded to the Bruins back in 2015.

Since then, he’s produced nine goals and 29 points in 103 NHL games played, adding one assist in four playoff games.

And be sure to check that link out because he’s already listed as a Golden Knight and I think that’s hilarious.

Seriously, the NHL is on top of their game like 24/7.

Now, he’s not known as a scoring defender and that’s perfectly fine.

Furthermore, Miller’s averages 15:48 of ice time a night, plenty of room to improve.

Here’s the kicker, though.

He’s a 24-year-old, right-handed, puck-moving defender with good skill and a powerful shot.

I love it.

Oh, you wanted a big body?

Well, standing at 6’1″ and weighing about 196 lb should do that justice.

The Rumor(s)

I’m just going to sauce some tweets your way.

The mystery is what’s best here.

The NHL trade freeze will conclude at 8 AM (EST) tomorrow, meaning if anything has happened or will happen, we’ll hear about it around then.

Well, at least after that time.

I’m going to break down the tweet because some were confused and I like simplicity.

  1. He thinks that Miller will be flipped to Toronto from Boston via Vegas (easy)
  2. Next, Seth Griffith and Connor Carrick aren’t his proposed trade pieces, just a fact that all three – including Miller – were fifth round picks in 2012
  3. Or, he thinks that it’ll take Seth Griffith and Connor Carrick to close the deal

That wasn’t so bad, was it?

Number three isn’t the likely case because I don’t think anyone knows who would go the other way, so stick to one and two.

We’re about to escalate things here, so pay attention to each tweets posting time because it plays a semi-important part.

More mystery, duh, duh, duh.

Gee, I would love the confirmed source on this.

However, it still seems likely, but remember I’m not saying it’s happening for sure, just that it appears as though there’s a good chance for this to occur.

Glad we got that covered.

And we’ll circle back to almost the start and end with Mr. Haggerty.

It sure seems like a done deal, but you never know and after all, this is just at the speculation stage of things.

That being said, don’t get too excited just yet.

Although he would be a good and cheap pickup, so I’m game.
