Toronto Maple Leafs: Next on the League/Leafs Schedule
The Toronto Maple Leafs season has been over for some time now.
However, the Toronto Maple Leafs offseason is just beginning.
Yes, you might be thinking that they’ve technically been in the offseason since their departure and in some people’s opinion, premature departure from the playoffs.
But, not really.
Now that the Pittsburgh Penguins have claimed the top prize in hockey – congratulations – teams can look toward what’s looming.
And there are a number of different items on the agenda, some we’re looking forward to immensely and one that might not be too much fun.
I think you know which event I’m speaking of.
The silver lining to Expansion Draft is that it might help with acquiring some new talent.
Who knows?
Let’s take a look at the schedule of events coming up this offseason courtesy of CapFriendly.
Offseason Schedule
I love CapFriendly, I really do.
Boom, what a solid breakdown, well done.
Now, let’s discuss what will directly affect our beloved Leafs.
We’re going to skip the first two on the list and jump right into the protection list submission.

That’s when the Leafs and the other 29 teams in the league will have to give their protected list of players to the NHL and the following day, it’ll be released to the public.
Meaning, us.
I can’t wait to get my greasy hands on this list, by the way.
The next part is pretty self-explanatory, it just means the Vegas Golden Knights are more than ever open for business.
And the day we’ve all be waiting for, June 21, 2017, when the Golden Knights selection from each team is announced, coinciding with the NHL Awards.
Beauty, but why do we care about the Awards?
Auston Matthews for the Calder Trophy and Mike Babcock for the Jack Adams Trophy.
Oh, right.
Next is the 2017 NHL Entry Draft where we find out who Toronto will pick at 17, followed by everyone’s favorite joint holiday of the year, Canada Day/NHL Free Agency Day.
At least that’s my favorite holiday because it’s kind of like Christmas Day as well.
Love it, a three in one.
Now, in between most of that, a possible trade could happen, so keeps your ears pressed and I’ll try and be lightning fast in regards to any of that stuff.
There you go, enjoy this time of year.
And gentleman, if you have a playoff beard that looks anything like Sidney Crosby’s, time to shave, please.
Your wives will be happy.
