Toronto Maple Leafs: I’m Quite Happy for Kyle Dubas
Yes, I’m happy that the Toronto Maple Leafs are letting the Colorado Avalanche talk to Kyle Dubas.
I know, it sounds absurd that the Toronto Maple Leafs are letting anyone talk to our golden boy.
When I first read the headlines last night, I was pretty ticked.
I didn’t even crack open my laptop and write about it because I was worried what words of rage would flow through my fingertips.
But, one giant burnt pancake with chocolate chips and two cups of coffee later, I’ve settled down a bit and am now able to get my thoughts down more concisely.
To get the inside scoop of the whole ordeal, have a read through this article James put up this morning.
For the most part, I agree with him and I know you’re wondering why I’m happy for Dubas.
We’ll get to that, promise.
I agree with James because he’s right that Dubas is a brilliant hockey mind who’s going to go far in the NHL and letting him go wouldn’t help the Leafs at all.
I get that.
But, the simple reason I’m happy for him can be attributed to Kevin McGran of the Toronto Star.
That being said, let me explain myself a little more.

At first, I was completely in shock of the news because Dubas represents the Leafs Willie Wonka Golden Ticket to success.
I mean, he’s an analytical god who’s hockey brilliance is one of the brightest in the worlds and he’s still very young.
Okay, now that I’ve said all that, I’ll get right to the point.
I’m happy for Dubas, the man behind the fancy titles.
For once in my hockey life, I’m trying not to be selfish.
Okay, so let me have this one.
The Silver Lining, There’s Always one
McGran said it perfectly after he broke down the headline.
At any rate, Shanahan would not stand in the way of Dubas’s progression through the ranks.
After I read that sentence, I was more at ease and sat back in my chair.
Yes, I want Dubas in the Leafs system, but at the very least, I want him to excel in the NHL and progress in his career.
Who knows if there’s anything behind this, there very well might not be.
But, at the very least, Brendan Shanahan’s a good guy.
Love or hate it, but sometimes you have to think of the person first and maybe that’s what all this is about.
Yes, I know I’ll take some heat for this, but it’s just an opinion and in the end, mine carries little weight.
You do know that, right?
Let’s see where this goes and trust me, I’m still crossing my fingers that he can have the success he deserves in Toronto and not have to go anywhere.
