It’s time for me to give my ideal trades for the targeted players I think the Toronto Maple Leafs should go after.

I’ve listed quite a few players that I’ve heard the Toronto Maple Leafs have kicked tires over.

More from Editor In Leaf

All of which have been defenseman, good ones at that who could plug the hole on the Leafs blueline.

We’ve talked about Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Brandon Montour, Josh Manson, Chris Tanev, Kevin Shattenkirk, Jason Demers, Tyson Barrie and Darren Raddysh.

Other than Montour, I danced around giving my ideal trade because I wanted to put them all in one place at the end of the series.

Which is now.

So, let’s dive in and I’ll give my two cents on each guy.

Also, I’m leaving Kevin Shattenkirk and Darren Raddysh out because they’re free agents and this is strictly about trading.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic

This one seems highly unlikely as it’s anticipated that the San Jose Sharks will likely resign him.

But, I’ll still give my trade.

I don’t think that’s giving up too much for an already proven defenseman capable of the job.

However, to reiterate what I said earlier, Vlasic will most likely not be a Leaf.

Brandon Montour

You’ve seen this one before and no, it hasn’t changed since I originally gave my thoughts on an exchange.

If you want to read more of my reasoning for this one, I would kindly ask you to go to the article linked above.

I like this kid, still wouldn’t mind acquiring him for the right price, but he’s not number one on my list.

Josh Manson

Alright, here’s number one for me.

I’ve convinced myself that this is the go-to guy the Leafs should pursue.

Straight one for one.

This is something I’d be more than okay with.

Convince me I’m wrong, I’ll listen.

No guarantees you’ll change my mind, though.

Chris Tanev

This is a tricky one.

Yes, he’s a good underrated defender who will most likely be sporting new colors next year.

But, he’s not very durable.

I’m not too sure about this, but that’s what I’ll leave it at.

Jason Demers

This is my sleeper.

The more I think about Demers, the more I want the Leafs to get him

Problem is, I don’t think the Florida Panthers will part ways with him so easily.

Ya, I’m not a big Carrick fan, by the way.

Here’s how I see it.

Give Alex Petrovic the chance to slot in on the first pairing and have Carrick hold down the second.

The Leafs have enough guys internally to slot in for Carrick.

The pick is the extra incentive to actually do the trade.

Tyson Barrie

And lastly, Mr. Barrie.

Again, this one most likely wouldn’t happen, but it’s fun to play around.

Again, a straight one for one.

I’m not sure who the Avalanche want or even need for that matter, but, van Riemsdyk should be a want on any team.

Hope you enjoyed.
