The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced their roster of players that will take part in their rookie camp and tournament this month from September 13 to 16. The team will take on rookie teams from the Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks.
The Leafs’ roster is as follows.
Tyler Biggs, Ty Bilcke, Parker Bowles, Zachary Bratina, David Broll, Connor Brown, Brett Findlay, Frederik Gauthier, Zachary Hall, Waltteri Hopponen, Josh Leivo, William Nylander, Luke Philp, Matt Rupert, Ryan Rupert, Carter Verhaeghe, Patric Watling
Kayle Doetzel, Cody Donaghey, Matt Finn, Jeremie Fraser, Eric Knodel, Viktor Loov, Tom Nilsson, Rinat Valiev
Antoine Bibeau, Christopher Gibson, Garret Sparks
There are more than a few camp invites on the roster but the Leafs prospects that are there are intriguing.
Of course the biggest name on the roster is William Nylander. He is arguably the best player in the tournament alongside Teuvo Teravainen of the Blackhawks. If Nylander wants any chance of making the Leafs roster, he has to dominate this tournament.
Other intriguing names on the forward list include Leivo, Gauthier, Biggs, Brown and Broll. The Leafs have high hopes for all five players.
On defense, the biggest names are Finn, Loov and Nilsson. All three could be on the Leafs roster in the next couple of seasons.
In goal, Antoine Bibeau is the player everyone will be watching. Bibeau led his QMJHL team, the Val-d’Or Foreurs to the Memorial Cup Final last season. What could be interesting is if Bibeau plays against Pittsburgh and the Penguins play Tristan Jarry, it will be a rematch of that Memorial Cup Final.
